Missing Him

The days have been very busy since Uncle Tom died. Lots to do, but in the quiet moments I find myself thinking about how brief life really is. How unfair that life is so short, which is why I find it so very easy to embrace the fact that there is an even a greater journey beyond this life.
Still, as I work, sew, cook etc. I find myself looking back at better times. My dad and his brothers were indeed very funny and filled my life with a great deal of joy and laughter. For that I am very grateful... As I sat yesterday, taking apart the border of a small quilt ( I made a boo boo) The following lines floated through my mind...so I wrote them down:

There was gladness in my heart to see you smile and
to see the light in your eyes when you saw me.
Then sadness when there was no beat, no breath, just quiet
for a moment......

My life is richer, the world is brighter, hearts were lightened
by your presence...
if only for a moment.

For generations you will live on and on in yours, theirs and theirs to follow.
They will remember your smile, the joy you brought and the laughter..
Ah yes the laughter..
If only for a moment

Life is but a moment in time, but hearts are touched,
lives are enhanced and made richer by love and laughter.
I celebrate you and all that you gave. I thank you
for being a part of my life
If only for a moment....
